On August 16, the film “Searching for West” was screened for the first time. Alex Tenenbaum, the Social Media Director for SeaCat Creative, explained that the screening was meant to “to connect a largely online and social-based marketing campaign with a physical event, while benefitting a very worthy non-profit.” The film was sponsored by GORE-TEX®, Leica Optics, and Sitka Gear. Tenenbaum said that all “went to the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation.”
The film was advertised “Primarily by social networking, with film posters hung around town, and a booth at Bozeman’s Music on Main the week before the premiere,” Tenenbaum explained. You can view more about the film at its website and also by reading the blog post by Sitka. Tenenbaum said that, “Social Media works, so long as you have a strong presence already established and the ability to sell tickets online.” The film was also covered by the Bozeman Daily Chronicle, the Billings Gazette and Spokesman.
This event just shows that working online with a dedicated group can result in a great project. The work done here could inspire many struggling artists to come together to create something great.
